Why become a member of our group?
Great golf, warm friendships and friendly competition!
Enjoy organized golf tournaments (with prizes!) while playing at a great course.
Make new friends in a safe, fun, competitive and supportive environment.
Play at a course that’s conveniently located in Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood, on the banks of the Fraser River and nestled between Marine Drive and Point Grey, two of B.C.’s most prestigious private courses.
Designed by Golden Age great A.V. McCann, and thought by many to have the nicest greens in town, McCleery is a bracing test from the 6,400-yard back tees. From the 5,800-yard whites most often played by our mid- and high-cap members, it offers a welcome challenge but with lots of par and birdie potential too.
The Men’s Club hosts tournaments almost every Saturday and Sunday morning from mid-March through late October, as well as some Wednesday nights during the summer months.
The Club plays by official Golf Canada rules and encourages fair play by its members.
Don't know the rules of golf? No problem! All members are encouraged to help each other so that pace of play can be retained while rules are respected.
Post-game, we gather at the clubhouse to share lunch and golf tales, and to see who won the KPs and other prizes.
Tournaments are geared to all levels of play, with both gross and net prizes, so anyone can win on any given weekend.
The cost? Super affordable. Think private club feel at a public course rate. $175 is the annual fee plus the regular green fees for games played. Seniors’ discounts are available. That’s it!
Dinners and lunches are often hosted by the club and with only a few wins, you could find yourself at the top of the Gold Trail money list.
If you wish, we’d be happy to have you come try us out with no obligation to join. Ask about the opportunity to play as a guest for an event to see if we are a good fit.
Come to the club around lunch time on any tournament weekend if you’d like to meet our group. The staff will show you to our tables.
Please complete this contact form, and a member of the club will contact you to answer any questions and hopefully get you out to initiate your McCleery Men’s Club experience!
NEW MEMBER FAQ
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR A TOURNAMENT AND WHAT ARE YOUR BOOKING POLICIES?
Entry to each tournament can be made online through our website.
Deadlines to submit your registration are posted on the website under each individual tournament registration page. In general, tournament registrations will be open until NOON, the MONDAY before the tournament begins.
Entries are limited and will be selected on a first-come, first served basis. Each tournament will also have a waiting list section if the draw sheet is full. Interested members should leave their name and contact info, as they will be notified as soon as space becomes available. You may also contact the Club Captain directly.
Except as noted, all tournament rounds must be played during Saturday or Sunday club times. Members are expected to contact the starter on the first tee at least 20 minutes prior to their tee time.
Tournaments are either a two-day, where you need to play either days, or one-day, where you can choose either day to participate.
You can still golf on both weekend days during a one-day tournament but you will need to announce (before you tee off) which day will count towards the tournament round. The other round will be Game Only.
You do need an up-to-date RCGA handicap to participate in the tournaments.
IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP AND DO NOT SHOW UP, CLUB PRIVILEGES WILL BE REVIEWED AND POSSIBLY SUSPENDED BY THE MATCH COMMITTEE.
Following each event, a properly completed scorecard must be submitted with the signatures of all participants in your group. Starting times, plus the times after 9 and 18 holes, should also be recorded. According to the Rules of Golf, players are responsible to ensure their correct GROSS SCORE is recorded for each hole played. If the scorecard is found to be incorrect, or illegible, you may be disqualified.
In the event of a tie, a count back system will be used to determine the winner.
Dates and formats for any tournament, including any prize payouts, may be changed at the discretion of the match committee; we will do our best to notify you of any changes before the tournament commences.
